Why Heat Protection is so important for your hair!

Why Heat Protection is so important for your hair!

Damage from your hot tools is more is now one of the biggest reason for dry & damaged hair. We love that you have been watching youtube tutorials on how to style your hair, but with all these beautiful looks, you are putting your hair a risk every time you put a hot tool on it, which can cause breakage & split ends. Whether you are blow-drying, straightening, curling, trying beachy waves or using a hair wrap, you need to be putting some sort of heat protection on, but which one is the right one?

Well lets first look at the difference between, heat & thermal protection. In Australia, due to the high levels of humidity, we tend to put our hot tools (especially straighteners) up to the maximum heat, which is usually around 230 C. A "heat" protectant is more for blow-drying on a medium heat setting, hair wraps or for when you are out enjoying the Australian sun, these usually only protect your hair up to about 125 C heat (Milk_shake thermal spray, Milk_shake Amazing Spray, Matrix Miracle treatment).

Thermal Protection has more protection, because hot tools, such as straightening irons & curling wands go up to extreme heats, temperatures that you wouldn't even cook your roast dinner at! Have you ever burnt yourself on one of these? What it's doing to your skin its doing to your hair, you just cant feel it because your hair doesn't have any nerve endings. When using one of these tools it is recommended that you have a product that protects up to 230 C, these can come in many forms, sprays, creams & even oils (Matrix Food for soft oil, Brass Off Threesome, Matrix mega sleek spray)

Think about it like sunscreen for your hair, the only difference is you can't see or feel the damage on the hair like sunburn until it's too late. So next time you pull out your hot tools to create a beautiful hair do, make sure you remember to show your hair some care & add the right protection.
